Activities
Lone Star / Big Daddy's Catering is
partners with four highly recognized local businesses whereby they
can offer many unique activities to add to the enjoyment of any
event at the Ranch.
Quality Entertainment will stir up your group with "The
2001 Frontier Olympics" - a western-theme fun and wacky team of
building competitions, "Game Shows" - Who Wants to be a
Millionaire, Corporate Feud, Jeopardy, or amuse everyone with a
re-enactment of that famous Texan anecdote "The Feud" - a
daffy version of the feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys.
Our suppliers can entertain your children with clowns, face
painters, magic shows, crafts, dazzling balloon creations and a
balloon twisting workshop.
Party Time will provide inflatable game rides or airbounce
structures and who can possibly resist Crash the Clown - a hit with
young and old at every party! Try your hand at the Lone Star
Ranch Lariat School Roping Clinic or enjoy a presentation of
"Little Ray's Reptile Adventure" whose mission is to give
fun, energetic, educational presentations for all ages on reptiles
and amphibians - a hands-on approach to interactive, educational
entertainment. Our Ranch can also offer a DJ service providing
music to suit any taste and line dancing and the appearance of live
bands on the bandstand can be arranged through our Production
Manager.
Stampede Games
Choose 3 Games For Your Group Stampede!
- Cowpoke Charades
Groups break out into teams and test their acting skills. Individuals will have to act out "cowpoke" related themes!
- On The Count of Ten..."Draw It Pardner"
Pictionary the Lone Star way.
- Buffalo Hunt
Two teams at a time will have designated targets that they have to attempt to hit with bow & arrows. The team with the most hits on their mark wins!
- Whistling Christie Barrel Racing
Inspired after a traditional Rodeo game. Two teams compete at a time, riding a stick horse to a barrel. They must go around the barrel, and come back to the last barrel. At that barrel they must eat two Christie crackers then have a swig of coke. The trick is, then they have to whistle! Only after they have whistled, can they tag their teammate to begin the course again. The team that finishes first wins!
- Pole Bending
Fashioned after the Rodeo event Pole Bending. Two teams start at one time. Rather than maneuvering their "HORSE" around the poles and back, they must get on a children's tricycle and do the same thing!
- Calf Roping
This is one of the most well known Rodeo events. Each team begins with one member getting on their horse (replica) tacked up in actual western saddles. The competitors must try to rope a calf the Lone Star way, with real lariats. The team that is able to rope their calf the most wins!
- Wild Horse Race
Recognized as the most dangerous of the rodeo events. Two teams start at the same time to compete in this event. Your cowboys and cowgirls will try saddle a "wild" horse and be able to get on and ride him. Lone Star Stampede horses are much tamer (barrel replica)! Actual western saddles are placed near a pylon. One member from each team will run to the pylon, grabs the western saddle, then runs back to the "Lone Star" horse to saddle him up. Once that is done, cinches it up, and gets on the saddle. The saddle must then be taken off and needs to be put back on the pylon. The next member is tagged. The team who puts their team through the fastest wins!
- Rodeo Clown
A set distance is marked. Two teams compete at a time. One or two team members have to get all the rest of the group to the other side without their legs touching the ground. The catch is, that eventually they have to get he/she to the other side without their own legs touching the ground. Props provided!
- Texas Volleyball
With a little southern flare!
- Chuck Wagon Racing
A real team builder! Quickest time wins. Four teams of 10 are harnessed up to our two-rail chuck wagons.
